Golden Hues by Shoreline

Grand Teton National Park, located in Wyoming, is a haven for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. The park is home to towering peaks, serene lakes, and the winding Snake River. Each season transforms the landscape, but autumn is particularly spectacular, as the park becomes a canvas of gold, orange, and red hues. Oxbow Bend, one of the park's most photographed locations, offers breathtaking views of the Snake River with Mount Moran as its dramatic backdrop.

During one of my photography workshops, I set out with my students to capture the beauty of fall at Oxbow Bend. Instead of focusing on the iconic mountains, I turned my attention to the vibrant riverbank. The golden-yellow foliage lining the Snake River created a stunning contrast with the rich blue water. This intimate composition showcases the essence of fall in Grand Teton, where nature’s colors come alive in harmonious balance.

Ada Covered Bridge in Cheer

The Ada Covered Bridge, also known as the "Bradfield Bridge," is a charming historic structure located in Ada, Michigan. Built in 1867, this 125-foot-long bridge spans the Thornapple River and is one of the few remaining covered bridges in the state. Its unique construction and picturesque surroundings make it a beloved landmark, especially during the winter months when snow blankets the landscape and holiday lights enhance its nostalgic beauty.

While visiting Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I grew up, I stumbled upon the Ada Covered Bridge shortly after a snowfall just before Christmas. To my surprise, the bridge was illuminated with festive Christmas lights, creating a magical scene. I captured the image, which became a personal favorite. One of my close friends admired the photograph so much that they displayed it above their fireplace mantel. Every time I see it in their home, I can’t help but smile, remembering that special moment.
