Lisbon’s iconic yellow streetcars, known as “eléctricos,” are a symbol of the city’s charm and history. First introduced in the late 19th century, these vintage trams have become a beloved feature of Lisbon’s hilly streets. The most famous route, Tram 28, winds through the city’s historic neighborhoods, offering passengers breathtaking views of landmarks, cobblestone streets, and architectural wonders. Despite modern advancements, these trams retain their historic appeal and continue to serve as both a practical mode of transport and a cherished cultural treasure.

During my visit, I set out to capture the Lisbon streetcars in a way that evoked their romantic, historic essence. I discovered a cobblestone street with a picturesque curve and positioned myself at just the right angle. As I waited, I envisioned the perfect shot: a lone tram gliding gracefully through the scene. It took nearly half an hour to capture the image without cars or pedestrians disrupting the timeless atmosphere. The resulting photograph conveys the enduring charm of Lisbon’s streetcars.

Ada Covered Bridge in Cheer

The Ada Covered Bridge, also known as the "Bradfield Bridge," is a charming historic structure located in Ada, Michigan. Built in 1867, this 125-foot-long bridge spans the Thornapple River and is one of the few remaining covered bridges in the state. Its unique construction and picturesque surroundings make it a beloved landmark, especially during the winter months when snow blankets the landscape and holiday lights enhance its nostalgic beauty.

While visiting Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I grew up, I stumbled upon the Ada Covered Bridge shortly after a snowfall just before Christmas. To my surprise, the bridge was illuminated with festive Christmas lights, creating a magical scene. I captured the image, which became a personal favorite. One of my close friends admired the photograph so much that they displayed it above their fireplace mantel. Every time I see it in their home, I can’t help but smile, remembering that special moment.
